I had just finished reading a book called, Radical, which is about living the Christian life to the fullest and letting nothing get in the way.  The author talked in part about living globally as a Christian as well.  Not a week later I got an email inviting any one who was interested to join a team to Haiti.

Even better I could take any of our older kids along.  SO, we’re in!

Hannah, Luke and I will brave the heat and bugs to go serve the people Haiti for one week in October.

A team from our district here in Tennessee will consist of a medical group and a construction group.  They tell me that we will probably be able to spend some time with the medical team operating a local clinic for the community.  The rest of the time will be taken up by serving a local church in rebuilding after the devastating earthquake in Haiti.  The best thing is that we were instructed to take time to encourage and share with any national that comes around.

The kids and I are very excited for the opportunity to reach outside of our comfort zone and to encourage people that have serious needs

There is the part for you to play in this as well.

The power behind making this a trip where God would really use us comes through prayer, not to mention my concern of taking my children to place outside of the norm.  Would you pray for us everyday from this day through the end of October?  Please let us know in the comments below if you are praying for us.

The practical needs consist of finances.  It costs roughly $4,000 to make this trip possible for the three of us.  About 25% of this we have already covered.  Dawn had a yard sale including donated items from our church and neighbors which raised just over $500!  Some of the people that came to our yard sale just plain donated to the cause.  One man returned with a check because he wanted to invest in our children that were going.  God is already providing in great ways as you can see.

With the trip approaching quickly, the deadline for finances is September 30th.  Time is really running short.  You can still donate after this date.  When we have reached the total I will take down the donation button.  If you would like a tax-deductible receipt, you can make a check payable to “Christ Chapel” and mail it to :

Christ Chapel, PO Box 1836, Spring Hill, TN, 37174.  Put “Haiti Mission Team” in the memo.

I am going to add to your gifts.  Everyone who gives $25 or more can receive my recent e-book on communication in your marriage, “Cracking the Communication Code in your Christian Marriage.”  After you donate just email me with the receipt number, and I’ll send you the link.
